We are fully aware that exercising is very beneficial to our health, both physical and mental health, but can it be beneficial to our skin or be added in our skincare routine and regimen?

Exercising can give your skin the healthy radiance but failure to maintain a skincare routine can result in breakouts and blackheads from sweats and clogged pores during workouts.


Important skincare tips before a workout 


There is absolutely no need to shower before exercising, 90% of employees hit the gym from office. If you prefer to cleanse your skin after a workout, at least wipe your face from specks of dirt gathered and wipe your makeup. 


This is important because when you exercise, your pores open, and specks of dirt from makeup and other environmental factors when combined with your sweat from the workout can result in breakout AKA pimples. Always leave disposable wipes in your gym bag, that can help you wipe off dirt and makeup your face before the workout.


Remember to be wary of gym equipment because it is a breeding ground for germs and bacteria and if your skin should come in contact, the bacteria will be transferred to your skin resulting in breakouts. Before use, wipe the machines with antibacterial wipes and avoid touching your face during a workout session.


Where you are exercising outdoors, do not forget to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin.

  1. Avoid using your hands to wipe off sweats, use a clean gym towel.

  2. Do not place your gym towel on the machine, it could pick up bacteria and transfer to your skin when you use it again, you can leave the towel on your neck or inside your gym bag.

  3. Gently pat your face and neck with the towel.

Important skincare tips after a workout.

  1. Get out of your sweaty gym clothes and shower.

  2. Wash your face, apply your facial toner and moisturize your face and body

  3. Wear clean cloth before leaving the gym 

 Where you do not have access to a gym shower or you do not want to use it 

  1. Wash your hands before washing your face and neck 

  2. Apply your toner and moisturize your face and neck 

  3. Get out of the gym clothes a soon as possible to avoid the specks of dirt and sweats drying in your pores.
